Question:

Aside from color or style, is there any actual difference between men's and women's running/cross train shoes?

I know that there is a size difference as well. Don't know what it is, but know that there is one.

I just didn't know if they actually made them different in any other way.

  1. Womens shoes are narrower in the heel and have a slight bigger forefoot area.

  2. The size is usually different.  It's really hard to tell, in fact sometimes the have the same exact shoe except ones titled 'mens' the other 'womens.'  Also, in case someone looks at your shoes, you may not want them to find out your wearing a shoe of the opposite gender (although some people wouldn't really care).

  3. men's shoes often have a wider design. men have bigger feet compared to the average thin foot of a woman. while some are gender specific, there's nothing wrong with wearing the opposite s*x cross training shoes if they feel comfortable.

gender specificity is just another way to help the buyer classify shoes design. the main goal on finding the perfect shoe is to find something comfortable. often times many women prefer male shoes-simply because they feel better. i do it all the time, and there is nothing wrong.

so just try the shoe and if they are comfortable, it's perfectly fine getting it.
