Asjad Iqbal wins over Shahid Aftab in 3rd Ranking Snooker Championship – Snooker Update
Winner of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) Second Ranking Snooker Championship, Asjad Iqbal showed his class in the penultimate stage of the league matches and cruised himself into the quarter-final stage of the Jubilee Insurance Third National Ranking
Snooker Championship at the Karachi Gymkhana Club in Karachi, Pakistan.
The Punjabi potter was up against the former National Snooker Championship winner, Shahid Aftab at the baize and completely unsettled him during their match to win it by the score line of 4-1 in the end. The clash was expected to be one of the most tussling
clashes because both potters are in good shape. However, Iqbal made it look easy when he started his campaign on the table against Aftab.
Aftab had no chance to capitalise against the champ and was without a clue at the green baize Karachi Gymkhana. He could add only one frame to his side of score-board after Iqbal was leading 2-0. Iqbal has only one match of the round robin stage despite
the fact that he is already qualified for the quarter-final stage of the event.
Iqbal fired some tremendous knocks in the opening two frames and claimed early lead by the score line of 2-0. Aftab added one frame of his followed by back-to-back frame victories by the frame score of 58-18 and 58-6. Iqbal must now be looking to cash this
opportunity and win his second national title.
