Question:

Ask a simple question and get personally attacked?

Come on people -- you guys need to lighten up.

I asked a simple question, got some straight answers -- and then there were attacks on the candidates that didn't even relate to the question, and some personal attacks that were totally unwarranted.

At present, I am an undecided voter. A recent telephone poll I answered tried to lock me in on one or the other candidate and I replied "None of the above". I thought I would check out this forum to help me with my decision, to get some insight -- only to discover that is NOT the case in this forum. But, I was trying to get a simple answer to something I was wondering about.

Why in the world would anyone personally attack the asker of a simple question?

  1. if you are wanting to get educated this is the wrong place......do you realize that the majority of the users on here are school kids

  2. None of the above is a pretty good choice.

I don't like McCain's warfare and deficit spending

I don't like Obama's welfare and deficit spending

I don't like some of the Libertarians' ideas either, but I'll vote Libertarian since thay are the only party that really wants to balance the budget before the nation has to take bankruptcy since we can;'t pay the interest on the national debt.

I don't hate McCain or Obama supporters.  They are probably voting for what they consider the lesser of two evils.  The lesser evil is still evil

  3. most of the questions on here are simply bait to get the supporters of either candidate fired up.  VERY little true info is found on yahoo politics.

  4. Attack is the last resort of poor thinking. The only reason to attack during debate is because you have nothing intelligent to back up your opion.

  5. Welcome to Yahoo Answers. You will find you aren't allowed to learn here. This is for bashing only, not educational purposes. Unfortunate but true.

  6. that is the typical behavior of a liberal, if you make them respond to an answer they don't know anything about they will insult you.

  7. Welcome to the internet.  Hopefully you didn't expect scones and tea.

  8. They are called "Forum trolls" They do it for an angry reaction cause they think its fun

    ignore em

  9. We're all anonymous here so it frees some people up to express their hateful personalities.

  10. some people are just mean spirited and over opinionated. some people just have too much time on their hands and may not feel that great about themselves, so to spread their negativity upon another might make themselves feel a little better for the moment. sad, really. things like that tend to get to me too, but try not to let it, these individuals and their opinions are not worth your time or understanding.

  11. Ummm...is this your first time here? Don't take it personally.

We kill the message here, not the messenger.

  12. 1. Cause they don't want you to ask the question.

    2. Cause they don't want to hear or give an answer.

So instead of answering the question, they attack the asker.

This happens frequently on here, but you can get some decent replies on here, if you go past the first 4 or 5 first knee jerk reaction posts.

  13. What was the question? It all depends on what your simple question was.

  14. I tried to answer you seriously. I don't know why anyone would attack you unless you attacked someone else first. It seemed a simple question. They probably assume you support Palin because your avatar looks somewhat like her.

  15. It's totally irrelevent whether Biden has hair implants and a facelift.  If you'd like to discuss a real political issue, form a question.

  16. It's the way of the world here on Yahoo Answers. I have stopped asking questions, and virtually stopped answering questions as well except for a few innocuous ones like yours. It's gotten vicious here recently and I don't even know why I keep coming on. I get curious to see what people are discussing, but then I get disheartened with the immaturity and the attacks. People seem like they're waiting with fangs bared to attack even the most simple of questions. I stick to the other categories. People are much more civil!

  17. I would think they have nothing better to do. They feel safe attacking someone while sitting in front of computer screen. I hope you got some good answers.

By the way, I was involved in two of those telephone polls. A person can only answer Yes or No and the questions are skewed to a

certain response. I decided to not spend my time on them anymore.

  18. Some people are so caught up in their candidate that they will say anything to prop them up and deny anything that drags them down. Personal attacks are nothing new in politics, and often people do not know when to draw the line.
