  2. i used to have an askal at home... They are usually defined as the 'mongrels' too many mix that you can no longer identify their breed. The dog that i had was the sweetest dog ever. He died 2yrs ago of heart attack :( -me thinks- and now i have a new dog 'chow chow' but still i kinda missed my old one.

  3. why would i even let an askal enter our home?

    haha.

seriously, you'd be surprised if you see one.

those dogs look dirty, sluggish, stinky --whatever.

but you know, i pity them.

    they look horrible. poor creature.

    our housekeeper told me,

    that they have galis too!

    galis = skin allergy.

but did you know that thugs eat them?

i mean, those poor and lazy people who did nothing,

but drink and lie on the streets like crazy.

i'm sure they taste bad. really bad.

  4. askal dogs are "asong kalye" or stray dogs.  it is usually domestic dogs that are free to go in and out of the house.

  5. the 2 above posts are correct. askals are also called "aspins" asong pinoy.

  6. a mongrel.  regular dogs of no particular breed.

  7. They all look different.  Just they are roaming around the streets looking for some food.  Usually the hair is a bit splotchy.  You don't want to hug them.

  8. Yes I have askals ("asong kalye" = street dogs = mongrels) in my vacation home, 2 of them. Their names are Spike and Issa.

They both can not be described the way they askals have been described by some. I believe that caring for dogs is waht is important, not the dog's pedigree.

My 2 dogs are treated like any pet owner treat theirs. A vet has done all the required services, anti-rabies, deworming, vitamins, prescription of shampoos and anti-flea things. The male one was recently neutered. The vet keeps a schedule of visits.

The 2 askal pets are also regularly bathed, shampooed, and brushed. They are fed proper dog food, not the left-overs. They are treated like others treat their expensive dogs. At the end of the day, dogs are dogs. The only difference is how owners treat them.

  9. its just an ordinary dog

  10. askals are stray mongrels with no pedigree. (example: 1/4 pitbull, 1/4 rottweiler, 1/4 labrador, 1/4 foxhound)... the word askal is taken from the words asong (a dog of) and kalye (street)... our national soccer team is nicknamed the Azkals.

they're perfect for K-9 units that sniff explosives, sniff drugs, search and rescue, and even attack people.

  11. pinoy slang "ASKAL" means ASong KALye literally meaning steet dog or road dog. its an ordinary dog but there is still a breed for them called MONGREL.
