I was reading about betta breeding, and it says when the female is ready to spawn she sill have a white "plug" around the hole where the eggs will come out, and this means she is full of eggs. It also said that happens after 2 weeks of conditioning the bettas. I have been conditioning my betta pair for about 3 days now, and the female has the white plug now. Is it safe to put her into the small container that is also inside the spawning tank with the male and slowly introduce them and try and get them to spawn? I already have the spawning tank set up.

  1. B. splendens (siamese fighting fish), member of the Gourami family (family Osphronemidae) of order Perciformes (formerly classified among the Anabantidae).

  2. yes it safe just keep an eye watch on them to make sure the mother is ok with the father in there.

  3. Yes, it is safe.  Put the male in first to give him time to get acquainted with his new area.  Make sure they are separated while he is building the nest.  If they are not ready to spawn, he will be a huge bully to her.  He could kill her.  Monitor them closely.
