Asker putting his unbeaten record at risk in the Punter Southall Transaction Services Handicap
The Class 3 Punter Southall Transaction Services Handicap has been able to pull together a rather competitive line-up with many talented and highly accomplished entries. The mile, five furlong and sixty-one yard race will be hosted by Newbury on Friday, 17th August. Sixteen three-year and older runners have turned for the £6,663 prize money.
The eight to one entry for the race, Asker, has been unbeaten in the three career starts and is risking the impeccable record with the race today.
The four-year-old had his first racing experience in a National Hunt on 19th October, 2011. He won the Linda’s Birthday Bumper “Newcomers” Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race by an amazing eleven lengths at Worcester over two miles.
He was riding with jockey, A. P. McCoy, and the two set No No Charlie as the runner-up.
The next stop of the Marcus Tregoning trained was in the Weatherbys Bank Median Auction Maiden Stakes on 25th June, 2012 at Chepstow over a mile and four furlongs.
High Chaparral’s bay gelding did not waste the first asking of the career for clearing the maiden and won by the margin of six lengths.This time he was racing with jockey, Katia Scallan.
The third seasonal outing of the Irish bay gelding out of, Pay The Bank, was in a handicap and the four-year-old made the most of every chance to put forth his diversity and versatility.
The Roncon Churchtown Bloodstock & Lane Ltd bred won the At The Races Handicap on 17th July, 2012 at Ffos las over a mile and six furlongs. He was pretty determined right after leaving the fourth stall and took on to track the leaders. He led for a good four furlongs and then got ridden over three furlongs out. His dominance within the final furlong got endangered but he escaped loss by a slight short head’s difference.
The favourite entry of the race, Bilidn, settled in as the runner-up and was soon followed by, Mezzanisi.
He will be paired up with jockey, Katia Scallan, for the race as the duo has drawn the fifth gate to break from.
