Question:

Asking about a return I filed...?

I owed for 07 because I filed my taxes too quick. I missed a W2 so I owed. That money was paid with my return; but I heard that I can file an amended return to get those penalties and money back. Is it true and if so, what's the procedure??

  1. I'm not sure what you're saying. Did you neglect to include the income from the W-2 or did you just forget to include it with the return? It sounds like the latter. If so, you don't need to do anything else.

  2. If you left a W2 off your return, then you need to amend your return.  You might owe more, you might get a refund, you might break even.  In any case, you have to file it.  It's called a 1040X.

  3. Yes its true you need o go back to your tax preparer and have him file a 1040x it is always the best thing to report all of your income and not just part of it. You would have to mail the return to IRS along with the W-2  for you did not  report.
