Asking for help getting a door frame fixed.

Question

To make a long story short, I broke in the door to my room in my apartment and the door frame broke...so I need it fixed.

I was wondering what type of person to contract about such a problem and what the going rate should be?

Any handyman would be able to fix that. Expect them to charge around $20 an hour at least. If painting is part of the job, you're looking at about 3 or 4 hours work (a lot of that is waiting between primer and paint application).

You may need a repair or you may need to replace.

well depends on where the door is broken. if you have to actually take the frame and door out and replace it with a new one  it is going to cost around 100.00 plus the cost of a new door/frame or if it can be wood filled and sanded painted etc.. you might get out with 50.00 in laborwhere are you located and I might be able to assist you I own a construction company.
