My hubby does electronic work for a sidecar raceteam and they are doing quite well at the moment but are in need of some sponsors in order to pay for much needed parts ect, how would compose a letter asking for sponsorship. The sponsors name would go on the sidecar and the bus. I just don't know how to begin such a letter.

  1. Before you write the letter, you'll need to establish what the min amount of money they will need for the position available.

A portfolio will be much more effective than a letter. Gather up stats of the race team and the specific accomplishments of the driver. Show a solid foundation for the team as well was the direction the team is headed. Include pictures of the motorcycle both off and on the track, trophies, and even the actual spot on the sidecar available. When you show stats, break it down from each season, if it has raced multiple seasons, and last year feature finishes and starts. Explain how many races are in a season and if you have an estimated number of people who attend the races, it will also help to show a potential sponsor "What's in it for me?"

Once you have that, the first thing is to pass word of mouth to everyone you know. You can sometimes find sponsorship where you least expect it. In fact, I (my company) sponsor a race car because a friend of his was asking if anyone could help him find a sponsor.

Another good way is to look into years past at sponsors who were once involved, but have since left. Sometimes they leave because of budget constraints, but sometimes it's a simple disagreement with the former team or its owner.

I sincerely hope this helps you in your quest to find sponsorship. Good Luck! My email is available through my profile if you had any other questions.

  2. Checkout www.sponsorhouse.com I have a profile there, and with a little time writing up your history, goals, and realistic expectations of yourself its pretty easy to pick up a few sponsors. I have personally got deals with Engine Ice, Pro-Grip, and Renthal through Sponsorhouse. Although, I don't get tons and tons of stuff for free or a rig to haul my gear in every little bit does help.
