Asking toooo much?

Hi there,

I havent ridden my pony in over a month because h pulled a muscle. I have started to walk and trot on him and he is pretty much better.

Do you think asing him to go to a show in 4 days would be too much we would just be doing the Hacks and begginer walk trit and posibbly canter?

Do you think that would be too much for him? Asking him to do all that in just getting into work in 4 days?

We could also just do walk trot.

Your pony should be fine doing a small show like that. If it were a jumping class, I'd say you might want to give him some time to get back in shape first, but he should be fine doing a wal, trot, canter class. He does all that in the pasture anyway.

i dont think you should cause the trailer ride could put stress on the muscle...and you pony could damage it again

I would get the vet out to check it and get is opinion. If you do go to the show I would just do w/t. Also, watch the area of the pulled muscel and be prepared to scratch if he is not up to it.

I wouldn't enter him in more than four classes if you go.

Unless the pulled muscle was quite severe, he should have been able to heal in a month.  Contact your vet and ask about his condition.  When the vet saw him, he should have told you how long he needed to heal.

Feel for heat in the muscle along the way - if he get's hot, drop out.  Start slow and monitor him.  Between now and then work with him - he should be able to do at home all that he would at the show - you can't leave off riding him for a month, then expect in 4 days to be able to get on and go to a show.

You need to do some work and see how he is and take what your vet tells you into consideration.
