  1. Nothing is currently broadcast in 1080i or in 1080p.  Right now, the highest definition is 720 for broadcast TV.  So you aren't going to notice any difference no matter which you set it on.

Currently, 1080 can only be obtained using a blu-ray DVD player, blu-ray media, and an HDMI cable to connect the player to the TV.

"Aspect Ratio" of the TV picture is the ratio of its longer dimension to its shorter dimension.

Current LCD and Plasma sets are designed for an aspect ratio of 16:9 because the most common theater screen aspect ratio is 16:9.  Hopefully, Hollywood will follow and insure that future movies are shot only in the 16:9 aspect ratio.

  2. NONE OF THOSE LISTED ARE ASPECT RATIOS...THE STANDARD ASPECT RATIO FOR A HDTV IS 16:9...THE OTHERS ARE STANDARDS OF DEFINITION...THE BEST BEING 1080P
