Question:

Asperger's Syndrome Dating Advice

I am a female with Asperger's Syndrome, a mild form of autism. Before I go any further I know I have asked questions re: step-kids/stepparents and husbands. I was asking them because I am interested in the dynamics of situations like those, not because I am in one. Now that I've said that, I can also say that I have never had a boyfriend. I skipped the whole teenage dating thing (I'm so glad I did because of all the drama that's almost always involved) but now I really want a boyfriend. The dilemma: my Asperger's. I am very shy and don't know any dating techniques. I don't know how to flirt, and can get uncomfortable when people get emotional. I have never had that closeness with anyone before, but now I want it. I want to know what it's like to be in love. Aspie girls, if you have any tips that would be great! For non-Aspie guys who are coupled with an Aspie girl, feel free to answer and give me advice too! Thanks!

Maybe the girl is just not that into you or is using you for social reasons until something else comes along. An aspie trait is to fixate on someone we like, so they are almost like a project. There's little room for anyone else. She may react strangely when you don't fulfill her expectations, like phoning at the wrong time. I would think about looking around for someone else.

  2. Im curently pursuing a girl who, i for one, think she has aspergers, i figured it out because one of my best mates has it and they have very simular manerisiums. Although she makes out shes interested in me, she never calls, and does not understand my concerns. Its a distinct lack of empathy. If i call her up out of the blue and sujest we go somewhere i have to be really laid back about it otherwise i think i scare her off and she makes up some excuss to get out of it, oh and she cancels dates alot. So, for me its a bit painfull, but i do want everything to work out. Wish me luck.

  3. My adopted son is an aspie and at 15 would love to have a penfriend or girlfriend. He has the usual aspie trates of being a really caring soul who opens doors for ladies and the elderly and would not dream of swearing, smoking, or doing anything that nt teenagers do!

If any young lady is interested (aspie or nt) please contact me on abarker46@aol.com.

    Thank you for reading this.
