Are 14 delayed release aspirin 50 mg lethal? It says on the pack that each tablet contains 50 mg aspirin IP. So the lethal does of aspirin is something between 300 - 400 mg right?

So can just 6 tablets kill you? It's silly cause you have such a deadly thing just sold in stores costing as little as nothing.

  1. The prognosis (probable outcome) depends on the blood level of salicylates found. A potentially toxic dose is seen above 150 mg/kg to 300 mg/kg (mg of aspirin/kg body weight). Recovery is likely if the proper treatment is instituted.

As little as 10 grams -- about 30 regular-strength tablets -- can be fatal in adults. In 1996, aspirin ranked eighth among all drugs as a cause of overdose and poisoning.

A reason aspirin ranks so high is simple availability.
