1. salicylic acid + acetic anhydride ----> aspirin + acetic acid

    C7H6O3 + C4H6O3  ---->  C9H8O4 + C2H4O2

    1 mol of salicylic acid (SA) produces 1 mol aspirin (A)

    1.75 g SA x (1 mol / 138 g) = 0.0127 mol SA

    0.0127 mol SA x (1 mol A / 1 mol SA) = 0.0127 mol A

    The molar mass of C9H8O4 (A) is 180. g/mol.

    0.0127 mol A x (180 g / 1 mol) = 2.29 g A (aspirin)
