Question:

Asrock motherboard & floppy drive

I'm not sure if I'm just losing my mind or what...but I'm really stumped. I just installed a new Asrock P4i45G motherboard with a Pentium 4 Intel 845 chip (I think) and everything seems to be working fine except for my floppy drive. My operating system is Win98 SE. I didn't reformat my hard drive. I just hooked it up and added all the new drivers. Windows recognizes my "A drive" but can't read any diskette. I've double checked all connections and I know the drive is a working one. I also tried with a substituted working drive but I have the same problem. The computer keeps thinking it needs to format the diskette but even then it can't carry through with the command.  I've also tried accessing the "A drive" through DOS but the same thing happens. It was suggested to me that I should upgrade my operating system because Win98 isn't compatible. Any ideas?  I'm not sure if it's the motherboard of my operating system.
