Assam resumed the day after having ended their first innings with 166 for two on day-two.
Having restricted their opponents on 249, it was imperative for Assam to clobber a big score by the end of their innings to put the opposition under some pressure.
However, the partnership between SA http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Symonds-c44611 and AS Sinha was not successful today as with only 171 runs on the board, Sinha was dismissed by Shivkumar without adding a run to his overnight score of 20.
The next over saw the demise of Roy, who perished after jabbing a knock of 77 runs off 209 deliveries.
This was the time when Andhra could have made a strong comeback by grabbing a few more wickets in order to crumble the opponents on a meagre score.
However, this predicament was avoided by DS http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jadhav-c65258 and Tarjinder Singh, as the two batsmen forged a tough resistance against the bowlers.
This was a perfect partnership for Assam as the bowlers were ruthlessly punished by the two batsmen, keeping the fielders on their toes.
The two not only avoided an early batting collapse, but also steered their side to calm waters.
Finally, the partnership came to its end when skipper Jadhav had to retire after jabbing a commendable knock of 60 runs.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tarjinder-Singh-c92849 was then joined by J Syed Mohammad, as the batsmen tried to continue the onslaught to leave the opposition in ruins.
Then with 344 runs on the board, the batting side lost their last wicket of the day when J Syed Mohammad was given lbw after scoring 21 runs.
With Tarjinder Singh on 103 and DS http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mayank-Goswami-c75433 on 33, Assam declared their innings with 394 runs on the board.
Andhra then ended the day by hammering ten runs without any loss.
