Assam v http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Vijay-Samuel-Hazare-c95227 Trophy - 4th Quarter-final – Live Score and Update
Assam 178 (47.4 ov) – Mumbai chose to field
In the fourth quarter-final of the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Assam-c765 after being asked to bat first have managed to post a meagre score of 178 runs in 47.4 overs at Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam.
Things went awry for them right from the start when they lost their first wicket with only three runs on the board. DS http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jadhav-c65258 was the first batsman to find his way back to the pavilion after he was clean-bowled by Salvi.
With eight runs on the board, the batting side lost their second on the departure of PP Das, who was also dismissed by Salvi after he had scored only two runs.
SA http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tarjinder-Singh-c92849 then forged a resistance for a while, taking the score to 30 before this partnership also met its demise on the wicket of Singh, who dismissed by Salvi after scoring seven runs off 21 deliveries.
Salvi was wreaking havoc upon his opponents and making life of the batsmen a lot difficult.
SA Roy was then joined by J Syed Mohammad and the two batsmen against a very potent bowling attack managed to take the score to 55, before the latter was dismissed by Waingankar after smacking a knock of 12 runs off 30 deliveries.
Roy and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/G-Sharma-c58236 then proved critical for their team as the two forged a flamboyant resistance against their opposition, launching an aggressive onslaught, taking the score to 147. The two batsmen were going strong until the partnership was broken by Verma
who had Sharma caught behind after he had scored a brilliant knock of 51 off 62 deliveries.
Then with 167 runs on the board, Assam lost the services of Roy, who perished after belting a staggering knock of 69 runs.
With him back in the pavilion, Assam had lost their chance of putting a big total on the board.
While AS Sinha tried to play a decent knock he kept losing partnership from the other end and consequently fell with only 18 runs to his name.
Having failed to play full 50 overs will certainly add pressure on Assam but if they bowl really well they can still win this game.
