How does the media determine if your death should be called a "murder" or an "assassination"

is it by popularity/fame?

if so, how famous do you have to be in order to be "assassinated"?

    • "Assassin" and "Assassins" redirect here. For other uses, see Assassin (disambiguation).

  2. Usually assassination is the killing of someone in power to change the outcome of events.

  3. They are both murder....but 'assassination' sells a lot more newspapers....

The difference really comes down to the motive rather than the act...

  4. I think assanination has to be more for people in politics.  If say, Brad Pitt was killed...you wouldn't hear the press say he was assanitated...they would say he was murdered.
