Sony announce exclusive content for both Ubisoft titles as well as an Assassin’s Creed 3 hardware bundle set for October.
Assassin’s Creed is easily one of the more popular franchises in the video game industry with a huge fan following. Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, the final chapter in Ezio Auditore’s trilogy, managed to smash Ubisoft’s previous sales records and proved
that an annual release schedule can work for both gamers and publishers if handled properly.
Ubisoft is set to release Assassin’s Creed 3 in October with a new protagonist, Connor, as well as a new setting, the American Revolution. The game has been in development for two years with the studio overhauling the engine in order to be able to render
battles with over 500 non-playable characters on the screen once.
With that kind of power at the developer’s disposal one can expect the same level of action as was presented in the jaw dropping CGI trailer that aired during Ubisoft’s E3 media presentation.
On the other hand, Far Cry 3 featured heavily during Sony’s Press Conference with a live demo of the game’s four-player cooperative campaign being shown as well as the announcement of the coop mode itself.
The game also made a highlight out of itself as a result of its trailers, one of which featured a half-naked woman on screen for longer than any trailer in the video game industry has dared to show. The gameplay and the visuals were both stunning and it
really does seem like the year that the Far Cry series will really step into the spotlight and become a force of its.
Sony Computer Entertainment America boss, Jack Tretton, followed the reveals and demos of both games in the Sony Press Conference with news that Assassin’s Creed 3 and Far Cry 3 would both be offering PlayStation 3 users exclusive DLC on launch.
The content would not be available for players of the game on any other console. Sony went one step further by announcing an Assassin’s Creed 3 PlayStation 3 bundle which will release alongside the game in October.
No details of what the downloadable content would be was given.
