After taking a look at the characters and engine that Ubisoft will be relying on for their latest iteration of the popular series it now time to see what they’ve been up in terms of story.
In the first two parts we introduced the reader to the new protagonist of the Assassin’s Creed series; a half English, half Native American Mohawk who goes by the name Connor.
In the second part, we explained how the new engine that will be powering the latest game has been built from scratch by the developer and will allow for a thousand-man battle to take place on screen.
It is now time to take a look at how all of that will be used by the storyline as we examine some of the plot details that have emerged.
First things first, it turns out that the player will not be fighting for either the colonists or the British, but rather the Assassin’s. The game will continue the age old war between the ancient Assassin Order and their resourceful foes the Templars.
The game is set to explore the role both parties played in not only the American Revolution but also a number of historic events that took place during the 30 years between 1753 and 1783.
Players “will see the great fire of New York. You will visit Valley Forge as a location that is currently occupied by Washington’s forces. You will visit these places in the moment that they were important, and hopefully, experience the reason why we know where they are today. That’s the goal.”
The source also cited that “It’s (Assassin Creed 3) not just going to a historical now; it’s going to a historical event.”
That seems to be the major change from the previous instalments in the series as the story had little to do with history apart from the setting and time period, with Ezio and Altair both going about their business in their own little version of history.
This time around Ubisoft seems to want to fill the history books with a gorge of details that will have students in history classes driving their teachers mental with questions of Connor, Assassins, Templars and hidden blades.
