Multiplayer will be making a return to the Assassin’s Creed series as Ubisoft spilled the beans on what types of matches gamers can be expecting when the game releases later on this year.
The Assassin’s Creed series has become a staple when it comes to the Electronic Entertainment Expo with a new trailer for the latest instalment in the series never failing to blow everyone away.
If anyone thought the bar could not have been raised any higher following the trailer for Assassin’s Creed: Revelations with Iron by Woodkid playing in the background, well they were in for a surprise as Connor’s debut at E3 sent multiple waves of goose bumps up everyone’s spines.
There was a live gameplay demonstration as well for the game that showed off how Connor would navigate through the trees, hunt deer and fight off a pack of wolves among other, more assassin-y things as well.
Although no multiplayer action was shown off during the press conference, Ubisoft were more indulgent in sharing news on the component at their Assassin’s Creed 3 booth.
The first game mode that players will be able to play is Dominations which CVG describes as a mode where “two teams of four fight for control over three areas on a map,” in a mode which is reminiscent of the standard King-of-the-Hill game mode.
Teams would earn points for capturing one of the areas as well as for holding it. The latter would be made tricky by the fact that the ‘holders’ would become marked targets as unknown assassins would be on their case similar to the previous multiplayer modes.
As for new characters only three have been revealed so far with The Commander, The Lady Maverick and The Carpenter.  As for maps, so far Ubisoft have only revealed The Northwest Passage map with more to be announced soon.
A third ability slot has also been added to increase customization options within the game and contextual as well as environmental kills have also been thrown in for good measure.
