Ubisoft’s upcoming third instalment in the core Assassin’s Creed series has broken the previous pre-order record set by Assassin’s Creed: Revelations and shows no signs of stopping.
Analysts may have been concerned about Ubisoft’s annual release schedule when it comes to the Assassin’s Creed games resulting in a loss of interest in the series from consumers. However, as it turns out it seems that the reverse is true as more gamers have
booked their copies in advance as compared to any other title in the series.
Assassin’s Creed 3 will actually be the fifth title in the series with Assassin’s Creed, Assassin’s Creed 2, Brotherhood and Revelations preceding it. One would have expected fans to tire of the series which had four games released in five years, yet Ubisoft
seem to have a way with getting everyone excited about their games.
The title is set to release across all platforms and Ubisoft has also confirmed that they plan to launch the title on the Nintendo Wii U as well later on this year.
According to the publisher, the game has already been pre-ordered more than any of the previous entries in the series during the same time period and if things continue it would end up the most pre-ordered game in the publisher’s history. No mean feat, seeing
how Assassin’s Creed: Revelations broke the series record last year when it came to sales.
The game is scheduled for release on the 30th of October and Tony Key, the Vice-President of Sales and Marketing seemed almost boastful in his pitch for the game.
He said, “With a development cycle of three years, Assassin’s Creed III is the true next-generation experience of the Assassin’s Creed brand. The production value of the game, combined with the biggest marketing commitment we’ve ever made, will make Assassin’s
Creed III the highest-selling Assassin’s Creed game ever.”
The way things are going it would be difficult to doubt the likelihood of that happening. Yet, with all the hype and anticipation comes increased amounts of pressure on the developers to ensure they live up to the expectations and deliver a satisfy AC experience.
