Ubisoft has confirmed that gamers will have to continue waiting for a chance to get their hands on a female assassin in the game. No pun intended...
There may have been a number of female assassin’s who were part of the ancient creed, which we known because of the statues beneath Ezio Auditore’s old manor, however, Ubisoft seem to want to stick to male protagonists with hidden blades for now (again,
no pun intended).
The Assassin’s Creed series has become one of the most popular on the current generation of home consoles with Altair and Ezio garnering iconic statuses for themselves. The series is set to move away from the Crusades, Italy and the Ottoman Empire as it
now plans on putting players right in the midst of the American Revolution.
Players will now assume the role of Connor, a half-native American half-British assassin, who takes up the ancient war against the Templars after witnessing a life changing event.
Many expected a female assassin this time around with Assassin’s Creed 3, seeing how it would present the perfect opportunity for a change, yet Ubisoft seem to be sticking with the male protagonist for the time being.
Alex Hutchinson, the creative director of the third instalment in the core series, stated, “It’s always up in the air. I think lots of people want it.” He continued, “In this period it’s been a bit of a pain. The history of the American Revolution is the
history of men.”
Mr. Hutchinson put things very bluntly when he said, “They tried very hard in the TV series to not make it look like a bunch of dudes, but it really is a bunch of dudes.”
He explained that having a female assassin would not fit and elaborated on that very point, “It felt like, if you had all these men in every scene and you’re secretly, stealthily in crowds of dudes (as a female assassin), it starts to feel kind of wrong.
People would stop believing it.”
To be honest it does make sense, yet one can expect a female assassin to come to the forefront sometime in the series but it seems that it will not be happening in Assassin’s Creed 3.
