Assassins Creed: Revelations, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception – Part 3 – The best and worst of E3 2011

No Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) would be complete without a trailer, which gave everyone goose bumps, or a live action gameplay demo, which had grown men shouting ‘i want it’ like three year olds.
Luckily, it had both.
Assassins Creed-ible Trailer
When Ubisoft ran the trailer for Assassins Creed: Revelations, no one knew what was to come. While it showed little gameplay and seemed more like a cinematic experience, it was awe inspiring. The soundtrack was smooth and the action in the trailer followed
it perfectly.
Crossing an ocean, climbing snow covered peaks and taking down an unending army of Templars were all accounted for. The appearance of Altair, from the original Assassins Creed game, coupled with cliff hanger of an ending, the word is used both literally
and metaphorically, however, was not.
Ezio even had one of his hidden blades broken off and it almost seemed to drive a blade through every Assassins Creed fan who watched.
In fact, Woodkid, the musician behind the track Iron, which was used as the song in the trailer, gained himself an army of geeky video game fans. So it was great for everyone.
Returning to the gaming world, the trailer showed an older Ezio seemingly meeting his demise after seeing an apparition of Altair. A nice touch.
By the end of the first day, it was one of the most talked about things at E3 and among gamers the world over.
The other thing that had everyone talking was:
Nathan Drake going for a swim
The Uncharted series had evolved into one of the best games of all time, not a title given out lightly and its plethora of awards will tell the same story. Everyone knew that the Sony Press Conference would have an Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception at one point
or the other and when it came, it exceeded the already dizzying expectations.
On a rusty old cruise ship, in the middle of a stormy ocean, Nathan Drake stealthily stumbled, not too often one gets to hear that, his way into the cargo hold where he was ambushed. Typical Uncharted-esque action ensued before the demo came into its own.
The fight into the cargo resulted in an explosion, which in turn resulted in the ship taking on water. While most games would stop there, the people at Naughty Dog seemed to think that something was missing and decided to flip the ship on its side. No wonder,
everyone with a PlayStation 3 console loves the series.
The demo then saw Drake, or Nathan as many PlayStation gamers call him due to their being on a first name basis with the explorer, fight his way to what seemed to be a safer part of the ship. That is before the ship's wall burst and Nathan ran into the screen
to end the demo.
The crowd’s collective movement to recover their jaws from the floor was proof enough as to how much everyone enjoyed it.
While the trailer and the live action demo were great, it is safe to say that no other announcement at E3 received as loud a gasp or as big a cheer, as the announcement of the PlayStation Vita’s price.
