Ubisoft have laughed off suggestions that the recently leaked release schedule was accurate. It also claims that the company is at work on a number of different titles.
One of the larger players in the publishing game, Ubisoft, has some of the most attractive IPs in their corner. Series such as Assassin’s Creed, Splinter Cell, Just Dance and Ghost Recon are all developed and published by Ubisoft.
So one can expect the studio receiving a fair deal of attention and that has been the case, as a website recently claimed to have into possession of the Ubisoft’s release schedule for the current year.
It listed a number of titles that did not surprise anyone, such as Assassin’s Creed 3, Max Payne 3 and Ghost Recon: Future Solider but a few names also caught everyone’s eye.
Prince of Persia and Splinter Cell: Retribution were also listed and while many expected sequels to those particular titles, no one expected them to be released this year.
However, anyone who believed that the schedule was true is in for a bit of disappointment as Ubisoft have come forward and rubbished the list, albeit, using the kindest words possible.
“We’re (Ubisoft) thrilled and king of amused to see this line-up news.” Read a statement, which continued, “It shows that players are anxious to hear about Ubisoft’s upcoming releases.”
A very accurate description if we may say so ourselves. The statement then continued to drop the heartbreaking bombshell, “This report line-up is inaccurate.”
The statement did not end on that sour note as it went on to lift the spirits and hopes of fans when it read, “We guarantee you that you’ll hear directly from us soon about the amazing variety of games Ubisoft has slated for fiscal year 2012-13.”
A number of those titles mentioned are a surety such as the aforementioned Ghost Recon: Future Solider and the third instalment in the Max Payne series. Assassin’s Creed 3 has also been confirmed by the developers although they have remained tight-lipped
when it came to specifics about the title.
As for Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia, well the year is still young and E3 is not that far off.
