I am 20 years old. I have had my license for almost two years. I recently got a car and insured myself with All State. After everything went through, I got a notice about a week after saying I was declined for coverage because I haven't had my license for three years?! I have a completely clean driving record: no tickets, no court, no violations. What company will cover me? In the notice it said something about insurance through the DMV? Anything helps!!!

  1. Sounds like their referring you to a high risk policy.  Allstate, Farmer and St. Farm are 3 of the highest insurance companies around, at least in California.  Try AAA, Progressive or 21st who just merged (or should I say was bought out) by AIG.

  2. Progressive will insure you...I started with them, and so did my sister. You could also go to an insurance agent in your area and ask them what they suggest (you don't have to buy with them, just get their opinion).

  3. It means you are a high risk driver. You will probably have to pay more for insurance. But give it a couple of years--- if no tickets/accidents, you will be able to get better rates.

Try speaking with an independent agent. That is someone that writes insurance for a lot of different companies.  They may be able to find you a better rate with a company that specializes in high risk drivers.

  4. There are many companies available that will insure newly licensed drivers or drivers that have less than 3 years of actual driving experience and best of all it does not cost an arm and a leg. A typical newly licensed driver with less than 1 year of driving  experience should expect to pay approx $100 a month to be legal. If thay have between 1-2+ (but less than 3) years it will be even less!

I represent over 30 California Admitted and Rated insurance programs that want your business and they offer low total down payments and affordable monthly payments to help get you and keep you insured.

  5. Does allstate have a "high risk" division?  perhaps they would take you.  Try American Family Insurance of Madison, Wis.  They are reasonable and an excellent company but they do not sell in all states.
