I need to compose 1 or 2 lines for each of the subjects below and they got to have one example of assonance.

(a) a bird singing in a tree

(b) traffic

(c) a lazy, sunny day

Please help me as I'm not familiar with assonance.

  1. chitter, chatter, clicking beaks

    chirping chants into a song.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~
    clanging, banging, beeping
    blaring horns shrieking
    screams, screeches,
    brakes breaking
    slamming doors
    cars stop.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Well, that's 2/3. It's 3 AM -- so I'm off. Hope this helps.

    T.

  2. A bird sings in a tree.

    While it files, it flings some doo on my window.

    I groove to the music on the radio as I move through traffic.

    I want to bathe in the rays of the sun, so I can get a nice tan.

    I hope that helps.

  3. assonance is repetition of vowel sounds in 2 or more words, an example, from Emily Dickinson's "Hope is the Thing With Feathers" is:

    And sore must be the storm

    there is assonance in the words sore and storm.  Another example, from Wordsworth's "She Dwelt Among Untrodden Ways" is

    Maid whom there were none to praise

    there is asssonance in the words Maid and praise. Effective assonance highlights and emphasises the words connected by it, but at this stage don't worry about that.

    Good luck, poetry is so fun!
