Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a major boost with the news that key players Scott Parker and Benoit Assou-Ekotto have returned to training with the first team after spells of injury on the sidelines.
Assou-Ekotto had been out with a serious knee injury, but has returned to training with the team after three months on the sidelines.
The 28-year old left back had suffered the problem back in September and has made only three appearances for the team this season. The player announced his return on his official Twitter account, saying:
“Training with the team today! I hope I’ll remember the name of everyone.”
The player is expected to make his first-team comeback in this Sunday’s game against Swansea City at White Hart Lane. The player had been replaced by Belgian centre-back http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jan-Vertonghen-c17814, who played at left-back in almost all of Tottenham’s games this season.
Vertonghen had been impressive in the absence of Assou-Ekotto, but the Cameroonian’s return will revert him back to centre-back, possible alongside http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/William-Gallas-c36874.
With Steven Caulker also available to play in the centre, Tottenham will have a host of options in defence. Manager Andre Villas-Boas will be delighted to have his first team players fit and ready for selection as the team prepares for a busy December.

The player has reportedly almost made a complete recovery from the injury and may be back in contention for this Sunday’s game against Swansea City.
