I prefer to boogie board lol but a couple of my friends are avid surfers, we want to go somewhere away from the U.S. for a vacation, I would like to see a pretty beach and try surfing again and I'd like for them to experience the best surfing on earth. Any suggestions?

  1. Based off my personal experiences...

Not traveling too far from the U.S.:

Elbow Cay (pronounced key) in the Bahamas (a little crowded, but overall, pretty good)

Costa Rica (Tamarindo, very decent spot. 5 beaches within 25 minutes, rent a car and its also not too expensive. You can also charter a boat and go to Witch's Rock and Ollie's Point, pretty epic spots when they go off)

Nicaragua is pretty decent, but C.R. is better

If you like cold, Thurso in Ireland is gnarly, and hardly any crowds

Of course, there's always Hawaii but thats overcrowded, expensive, and a pretty hard local vibe

Chile is good, Punta Lobos specifically but really a lot of places are great

France-Hossegor is a world-tour stop, its good when its good

    Farther:

New Caledonia (just went this year, a small overseas territory of France, near New Zealand and AUS, great waves and consistency, hardly any crowds)

The Mentawais (gnarly spot, tons of places to go but nowhere to stay, best to rent a boat)

Thats all I can personally vouch for. If you want more information or personal experience on any of those places, just let me know.

  2. south africa in the winter time.

  3. Ok, since you are a beginner surfer but have friends that are avid surfers I am going to suggest my favorite place in the world to surf, NICARAGUA!!! Playa Maderas, is mellow yet good on a low tide.It can get up there in size but is like I said, mellow enough for beginners. The beach is beautiful and has awesome shells and rocks! I lived in San Juan Del Sur Nicaragua for 4 months and loved it!

IDK do some research on it if it sounds up your alley. It's all personal preference. It has shuttles that run to and fro the beach, it its visitor friendly and the waves are good.

  4. Go rent this movie, if you can find it.

  5. Bali is an amazing place to surf, the breaks are epic...

North Shore, Hawaii always has great surfing

Puerto Rico supposedly is good too & Tahiti

  6. Hawaii

    Fiji

    Indonesia

New Zealand (also good for mountain boarding)

    Tajiti

    Baja, Mexico

also try Costa Rica or Panama.

  7. Sure... Teahupoo and Pipe are great places to try surfing again.   You might want to try Mavericks and Cortez Bank, too.

Look at Central America, lot's of it is still affordable (even with the weak dollar) and it is way safer than it used to be, safer than Baja nowadays.  Lots of breaks of various types to fit all skill levels, and easy to get to.

  8. Teahupoo, Tahiti

    Uluwatu, Indonesia

Simeulue, Banyak and Hinako Islands, Indonesia

    Pipeline (Ehukai), Hawaii

  9. the maldives, no doubt

  10. well we all have budgets, so go for indo or south africa. south africa is one of the most consistent places in the world. sure Oz, indo and hawaii are bigger and better known, but small towns like east london, kei etc are consistently 3-4 foot and get to 6-8 foot and after some good winds 10-12 foot. US $ is flippen expensive for me so itll be cheap for you to come here. our climate is great all year round, and there is many other things to do if it gets a little flat- its africa. game parks etc to go to. i rate SA as a top holiday destination especially is you gonna surf. but dont just stick to cape town and durban, travel!!! and stick to your bodyboard- fat lips to bust here;)!!!!

  11. i will like to spend all my budget on poor
