Asthmatic resuscitation?

Recently my wife had a major attack and i have to revive her with rescue breathing, she has just got out of hospitial and the nurse gave us a ambu bag incase she goes into respiratory arrest again. My wife often makes me pratice rescue breathing on her so i know what to do and now she wants me to pratice using the ambu bag on her. I just want to know has anyone done this before??

Since I worked in the ER for 17 years I have done a lot of rescue breathing for various patients over the years but I find it hard to believe that a person is doing that for their spouse at home. Don't you have all the home O2 powered nebulizers? Epinephrine injections? Does her asthma crash her so fast that she doesn't have a warning period that she can start medication treatments and call 911?

    Anyways, I suppose if she is that brittle it would be best for you to know how to perform a resuscitation. My best wishes that you will never have to do that.
