Bent has been sidelined with ruptured ankle ligaments since February, with the injury expected to keep him out for three months. However, the player has been in touch with the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 team doctor and physio who have been assessing his fitness.
While the player has been declared fit to participate in the Euro 2012, the decision ultimately lies with Roy Hodgson. It is uncertain who the English manager will pick to make up his 23 man squad for the European Championships.
Hodgson will be uncertain about Bent since the striker has gone on to miss Aston Villas last 19 games of the 2011-2012 season. However, Bent is certain he will be fully fit in time for the European Championships and revealed he was eager to represent his
country.
Bent said in an interview:
“I'd like to think so. My fitness is getting better every week and I go out every day working hard. I feel I'll be ready for the Euros.
I've been doing a lot of work and I can do all the running in the world on the training ground but what counts is game situations.”
The 28-year-old confirmed he was working hard but what he needed was practice and he would only get that if he was to be selected by Hodgson. If he is selected, Bent will work towards playing in the upcoming friendlies against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Belgium-c2850 to prepare

He revealed:
“If I can get my fitness up and get one or two goals in the friendly games that would put me right up there in terms of confidence as well.”
As for his future with Aston Villa, Bent confirmed he would be staying with the club past the summer, despite the Villains having been involved in the relegation battle this season.
Bent continued:
“I have three years left on my contract and I've said before I would like to remain here for as long as that if not longer.”
