In a surprising news, it has been revealed that English Premier League side, Aston Villa, have fallen for the charms of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international Olivier Giroud. The Frenchman is currently under contract at Ligue 1 side Montpellier Herault for whom he has scored
17 goals in the league.
Last weekend, Montpellier lost to Nancy Lorraine 1-0 and the scouts from Aston Villa were present to witness the rare defeat. The scouts were impressed with the performances of Olivier Giroud and young http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Benjamin-Stambouli-c7503 .
Apparently the Villans have been monitoring Giroud for a long time. However, it seems far from plausible that the struggling English side would be able to get their hands on Giroud.
However, they do have a small idea. The Daily Star claims that Villa would be willing to offer Montpellier Charles N’Zogbia in return for Giroud. The French midfielder has already admitted that his relationship with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 McLeish is far from normal so the
Scottish manager would be willing to see the back of the former Wigan man.
N’Zogbia arrived at the club last summer from Wigan for 11.3 million Euros and has failed to live up to the hype that was built around him following his arrival.
The question is whether or not, Montpellier would even consider looking at Villa’s proposal especially as N’Zogbia earns approximately 71,900 Euros per week.
Moreover, Montpellier would never consider parting with their player for a club that has struggled to establish itself in the Premier League in recent seasons let alone win it.
Furthermore, Olivier Giroud has already said that he wants to play in Europe next season which clearly means that Aston Villa have little to no chance of signing the striker.
With all due respect to Aston Villa, Olivier Giroud is courted by some of the best sides in Europe so the player would never agree to a move to the Birmingham side.
Aston Villa can’t match Olivier Giroud’s ambitions for now so it seems highly unlikely that Loulou Nicollin and co would enter into negotiations with their English counterparts.
