Randy Lerner, the club’s chairman, and Paul Faulkner, the chief executive, have released a joint statement explaining that they will fight on to avoid relegation.
Aston Villa sit three points above the relegation zone at the moment, however, Bolton Wanderers, who are currently in 18th place, have a game in hand and could potentially go level on points with the Villans if they get all three points.
As it stands, Villa are 15th with 36 points, followed closely by Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 and Wigan Athletic, both of which are on 34 points each, and then there is Bolton, who are currently in the relegation zone on 33 points.
Any one of those sides could end up playing in the Championship next season depending on their form between now till the end of the season. Aston Villa’s top executives have done everything but declare an emergency in their latest statement, which was published
on the club’s official website.
The statement, written by both the club’s chairman, Randy Lerner, and the chief executive, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paul-c29347 Faulkner, acknowledge that the club is hurting and understand the fact that fans are visibly frustrated by their side’s performances this season.
The statement read, “Right now everyone connected with Villa is hurting badly.”
The statement continued, “We very openly acknowledge the frustrations of Villa fans and share in them completely. What matters to us and the board at this moment is how we, as a club, handle adversity and the pressure it brings.”
As for the club’s upcoming fixtures and the manager’s position, the executives seemed both positive and supportive. “They (the team) are now preparing for West Brom followed by Spurs and Norwich. We will continue to support and rely on our manager and the
squad and therefore give them our full support.”
Aston Villa face a real threat of being relegated this season but a few decent results could change all of that. Many fans blame the club’s management for selling all of their top talent before the start of the season as the loss of Ashley Young to Manchester
United and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 have left the side lacking the quality they had in the past few seasons.
