Aston Villa manager, Gerard Houllier, accepts Manchester City defeat was the lowest time of his career.
Aston Villa’s manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gerard-c14664 Houllier, has admitted that his side’s four nil defeat against Manchester City, back in December, was the most embarrassing match of his career.
Houllier said, “It was the poorest performance of any team I have had in my life. There was no soul, no attitude. In sport, you can be beaten but you never give up. It was the low point of my career. I never in my life, never, had a team that has given up
so quickly. We looked resigned to things rather than trying to fight to get back into the game. We hit rock bottom there”.
Manchester City thrashed Aston Villa by four goals to nil at City of Manchester Stadium in December 2010. The Citizens totally dominated the game in every aspect.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mario-Balotelli-c23937 scored three goals against Gerard Houllier’s team, which was his first Premier League hat trick.
Gerard Houllier was not at all happy with the way his players approached the game and accused them for lack of ambition during the match.
However, the Manchester City humiliation for Aston Villa proved to be a turning point as Gerard Houllier’s men have lost only twice in all competition since December. The Villans are now placed 12th in the Barclays Premier League standings with
33 points to their credit out of 28 matches.
The Villian manager claimed that he was always hopeful that he would be able to turn things around at Villa Park.  Gerard Houllier also hailed the support shown by Villa owner Randy Lerner and chief executive http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paul-c29347 Faulkner during the transition time.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 manager said, “It was just that I was too soft in trusting players too long. That is probably what happened. We recovered after that. We have only lost twice since that, home against Sunderland when we were down to 10 men and away to
Manchester United away when we played well. Ever since that Manchester City game, we've started to build and improve”.
Aston Villa managed to get their revenge over Manchester City, when both sides locked horns in the Barclays Premier League fixture at Villa Park in January.
The Villans shocked Manchester City by putting an outstanding performance and won all three points.
Aston Villa will once again play Manchester City at the City of Manchester Stadium for the FA Cup knock-out round.
Both clubs are aiming for silverware and Gerard Houllier feels it is a golden opportunity for his team to prove their worth against City.
