Aston Villa midfielder, Nigel Reo-Coker, has revealed that several UEFA Champions League clubs have shown interest in securing his signature.
Reo-Coker’s contract with Aston Villa is set to expire at the end of the 2010/11 season and he is open to a move to a top club. However, the Midlands club have planned talks with the player and want to hold onto him.
The 26-year-old revealed that like every player, he also has a dream of playing in the Champions League and wants to achieve big things in his career.
Talking to the reporters, Reo-Coker said, “There has been interest from foreign clubs and most of the clubs are playing in the Champions League. That is something you would like to participate in and I am a footballer for the fact of playing at the highest level. You want to play in the biggest competitions and want to win things and achieve things in your career.”
The midfielder handed a transfer request last season after finding first-team opportunities hard to come by under manager, Martin O’Neil. However, he has returned to the fold since http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gerard-c14664 Houllier has taken over the managerial role at the club this season.
The former West Ham United man revealed that playing consistently is what matters the most for him, and his future lies at a club where he is guaranteed first team football. The former Wimbledon midfielder heaped praise on Houllier and admitted that he has given him enough opportunities to restore his confidence once again.
He said: “I owe him tremendously. I owe him a lot. He has restored my belief and confidence since he has come in. He is a great manager and I believe personally he has got us playing great football.”
The player thinks that he still has enough years ahead of him to reach to his best and he is facing a difficult decision at the end of the season.
