Aston Villa skipper, Stiliyan Petrov, has apologised to the Villa fans after the club’s poor performances in the ongoing 2010/11 season.

League table after collecting 42 points, just six points above the drop zone.
Petrov admits that finishing in the bottom half of the EPL table is not acceptable to a club of Villa’s stature and has called on his teammates to ensure that this season remains a one-off. Furthermore, the Bulgarian is hoping that quality players will join
the club in the summer 2011 transfer window in order to strengthen the team.
He said, "We need to make sure this season is only a one-off because, with the players and the quality we have got here, it has not lived up to expectations. We haven't performed this season and we know that it is down to us and nobody else. We have let
the fans down, and we will not run away from that fact, and we have to make sure that we are right for next season. This season we did not show what we are capable of and next season will be a big one for us.”
Petrov’s individual performances have also been below par; the 31-year-old has made 25 appearances in the Premier League and has only one goal against his name. Furthermore, the midfielder lost his place in the starting eleven to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nigel-Reo-Coker-c27884
