During his short nine-month stay at Villa Park, Houllier helped Villa achieve more than decent results. The club finished ninth in the 2010/11 English Premier League, but lost Houllier to health problems.
Houllier and the club parted ways on mutual consent as the manager suffered from heart problems towards the end of last season. Houllier’s health problems severed towards the end of the season as he failed to appear in the last five games for Villa as their
manager.
The 63-year-old, who is expected to stay out from the football action for the next few months, believes he will return to the job once he recovers fully.
“I am extremely disappointed that I will not have the opportunity to manage Aston Villa next season. My health has improved considerably since I was taken ill on April 20. I now intend to take the next few months to concentrate on recuperating fully before
I may return to football.” Houllier said.

But reports have revealed Mark Hughes as the leading candidate for the Aston Villa hot seat. The urgency in Villa ranks seems logical as they want a new manager to take charge
