Aston Villa striker Darren Bent believes he is worthy of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 team spot – EPL news
Aston Villa striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Darren-Bent-c10358, believes that he has proved the doubters wrong in the 2010/11 English Premier League season and insisted he is a good enough player to be wearing the esteemed England jersey. Tottenham Hotspurs manager Harry Redknapp – tipped
to be taking over the Three Lions http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 from Fabio Capello – is one of the biggest critics of the player’s vulnerabilities.
Bent, who failed to cement a place in the England’s 2010 FIFA world cup squad under Capello, fully justified his place in the England squad as soon he was recalled up by Capello later in the year. Bent has been able to exceed the critics’ expectations by
finding the back of the net in all of his last three games for England, scoring goals against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wales-c3041. Not only has the 27-year-old confirmed his place in the English squad, he has emerged as the first choice-centre forward for Capello.
The 27-year-old striker believes his recent performances are a perfect answer to the critics, including Harry Redknapp, who once took him to the wire by saying, “my missus could have scored that one”, after Bent missed an open goal against Portsmouth.
“Since that moment, when Harry said what he did, I've scored a lot of goals. I like to think I've changed a few perceptions of me over the past few months. Hopefully I can keep changing people's perceptions of me and showing them I can play at the top level
and score goals.” Bent exclaimed.
The former Tottenham Hotspur and Sunderland player also topped the English Premier League charts amongst all the English players, having finished with 17 goals on the table. In spite of coming under severe criticism from Sunderland ranks following his controversial
£24 million switch to Aston Villa, Bent’s splendid form was not affected.
When asked if he will be content with Redknapp taking over the England job, he replied, “l’ll just play as well as I can for my club side. If Harry gets the job, then good luck to him. I'm at a period now where I feel more confident than ever before in my
career.”
Bent made his debut for England against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Uruguay-c3035 at Anfield in March 2006, and has made just 9 appearances to date.
