Aston Villa’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur alert
Aston Villa’s wing wizard, Ashley Young has gone on to almost confirm that he might not be a part of the Villans' squad next season, as he has once again delayed his contract talks till the summers.
This constant insistence by the player to talk about his contract in the summers has seen him get linked to a number of teams including Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.
The 25-year-old just has twelve months left on his current contract with Villa, but seems to be in no mood to extend his stay, quite probably because the player has already made up his mind about his future and it does not involve Aston Villa or Villa Park.
However, when asked about the situation, the player went on to deny the speculations and said that he was committed to the club for the time being and that any talks that need to be held, would be held at the end of the season.
Young is reported to have said, "I've always said that I'm going to speak to the manager (http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gerard-c14664 Houllier) and the chairman (Randy Lerner) in the summer. I'm fully committed to the club and you can see that by the performance I put in against West Ham on
Saturday. I'm just concentrating 100% on my football and we will speak at the end of the season."
Prior to the burst of form that Villa have shown lately, the team was struggling to stay out of the relegation zone. This led people to believe that should the team get the drop, a host of players, including Young, would be on their way out of the team.
However, with Villa now sitting in the ninth spot and looking to stay in the top half of the table till the end of the season, that speculation was thrown out the door.
Nonetheless, that does not mean that Ashley Young, who has often appeared to be a big fish in a very little pond at Villa Park, is going to be staying on at the club. Teams like United and Liverpool seem to be the ideal destination for the player, since
he could finally be playing football at the highest level, before it’s too late and he’s too old.
However, for the 37 goals and 54 assists that Young has given to Aston Villa over his 183 appearances for the club, it seems like he has earned the right to move to bigger shores.
