It was Clark who scored the opening goal for his side against Tottenham Hotspur, in a fixture which ended in a 1-1 stalemate. The goal was effective in ensuring Aston Villa will remain in the English Premier League next season, with the side having been
involved in the relegation battle earlier.
With a highly uncertain campaign, which saw Aston Villa struggle to remain in the top flight, Clark believed it has only benefitted the team. The 22-year-old said while speaking to the official Aston Villa website:
“I think everyone has been strong and shown good attitude. The players have shown a good attitude and that's shown, especially getting the result against Tottenham.
Hopefully the club can (come back) stronger from a season like this. Hopefully we can use this experience in the seasons to come and build on it and push forward.”
Clark believed the relegation battle had brought out the best in everyone, with the team showing good fighting attitude to ensure their continuation in the Premier League. He felt the result against Tottenham Hotspur had been crucial in the struggle for
survival.
He continued:
“You have to grow up quickly in the relegation fight. It is all a big learning curve and experience for us and I think it can only be good for the club.
This has been one of the toughest seasons but we can take that on and all of us can use it and hopefully help the club move forward.”
