Aston Villa’s Gary McAllister claims the club will do everything to keep Ashley Young – EPL news
Caretaker Aston Villa manager, Gary McAllister, has claimed that the club will do everything to keep prized asset, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ashley-Young-c6813, at the club for the next season. However, the manager admitted that Villa’s poor season combined with the prospect of UEFA Champions
League football could turn out to be the reason for Young leaving.
Ashley Young has been a key player for Aston Villa and one of the few positives for the club this season. The winger is reportedly seeking an exit from the club with the likes of Manchester United and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 showing keen interest.
McAllister insisted that Young’s departure is not inevitable and the club will try and do its best to keep the midfielder for the next season. He admitted that every player has the ambition to play in the Champions League as it is the highest stage and many
of the Europe’s top clubs are involved.
“I don't think it's inevitable he will leave and we will do everything we can to keep him here. All players have ambition to play in the Champions League. We can't give them that. It's a goal but we all know how difficult it is to get up there. You can always
understand the lure of playing in that competition,” he was quoted as saying.
The Assistant manager also heaped praise on the Ashley Young-Darren Bent partnership and admitted both the players have been instrumental in the club’s bid to stay in the Premier League. Of the total 20 goals Aston Villa have scored since Darren Bent’s arrival
from Sunderland in the January transfer window this year, the duo have scored ten goals between them.
“He has become an England player playing for Aston Villa. The partnership of him and Darren has looked exciting for Fabio Capello, for sure,” the former Liverpool midfielder concluded.
Aston Villa are currently in 13th place with 41 points and are level on points with Newcastle United and Sunderland. The Birmingham-based club have most certainly avoided relegation after a dismal start to the season.
