The Azzurri national team defender went on to state that he has rejected a move to Russian League in favour of the Serie A, where he feels he has much to prove.
The defender has opted to remain in his native country’s league, rather than making a move to Spartak Moscow. The Russian club had proposed 15 million Euros for the Azzurri international; the deal would have seen the centre back playing in the Russian Premier
League. However, Cagliari President put a stop to the deal and Astori commented on his reasons of staying with the Sardinian outfit.
The deal would have seen the Moscow outfit give 12 million Euros in cash, and the remaining 3 million Euros coming in later on. The deal would have seen the Cagliari man pocket 2 million Euros per annum. Moscow offered a better pay package for the Italian
than the Sardinian outfit gave him.
However, the Sardinian defender is being offered a new contract which would see him on a better pay scale than before. However, reports suggest that it would not be the same deal put forth by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Davide-Astori-c10639.
The Italian national was talking in a press conference and stated that he had made a decision without considering the monetary aspects of the deal. He went on to state that the club gave him freedom to make an independent choice, and even though he had wandered
in the process, he was sure he wanted to stay in the Serie A. He went on to comment:
“I have made a choice with my heart, certainly not one tied to money. Cagliari gave me the freedom to decide my future, I cannot deny that I wavered and, indeed, I was one step away from signing the contract with the Russian club.”
The defender went on to remark on the discussion he had with President Massimo Cellino and remarked:
“He did not expressly recommend that I stay, but he told me that I still have much to give to Italian football and his words have proven to be a decisive factor in my final decision.”
Davide Astori has been linked with a move to AC Milan, and the links have picked pace after http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Thiago-Silva-c34903 was sold to PSG.
