O Wednesday night, France ran out comfortable winners against the Chinese Taipei thanks to a game high score of 16 points by their shooting guard Hélèna Akmouche. She produced a solid offensive performance to propel her team to
victory.
Adja Konteh
French small forward, Adja Konteh, was at the top of her game as she scored 10 points and plucked 7 rebounds in just over 20 minutes of play time. Konteh has been one of France’s best assets in this tournament.
Clarince Djaldi-Tabdi
Tabdi followed a similar pattern to that of Konteh as she scored 11 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in approximately 20 minutes of game play.
Wei-Lin Wang
The Chinese Taipei small forward could not match Konteh and Tabdi; however, she still finished as the most effective player for her team with 11 points and 3 rebounds.
Spain vs Chile
Astou Ndour
Spain produced an exceptional performance against hosts Chile. Their centre Astou Ndour leading the way with 15 points and10 rebounds in only 16 minutes. Ndour had displayed a similar performance in Spain’s previous game against
France.
Inmaculada Zanoguera
The Spanish power forward provided ample support to Astou Ndour and racked up 14 points to go along with 9 rebounds.
Fernanda Mansilla
The only consolation for Chile was provided by their point guard Fernanda Mansilla, who dug up 14 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and was immaculate from the free throw line. She nailed 4 out of 4 of her free throws.
Brazil vs Australia
Damiris Dantas
The one sided affair between Brazil and Australia came as a slight shock; however, the night was marked by a scintillating performance from Brazilian centre, Damiris Dantas. She has had an extraordinary tournament so far and continued
her good form by scoring 24 points, catching 16 rebounds and managing 4 steals.
Tassia Carcavalli
Dantas was well supported by small forward Carcavalli, who netted 20 points, made 4 steals and scooped 3 rebounds. Together they ripped apart an off colour Australian side, who have been dominant in the tournament otherwise.
Rebecca Allen
Despite Australia’s loss, their small forward Rebecca Allen bucketed 14 points, collected 8 rebounds and managed to rob her opponents with 3 steals. However, her efforts were in vain.
Tayla Roberts
Another Australian, Tayla Roberts managed to slip in a decent performance by earning 10 points and plucking12 rebounds. Her efforts were also useless in the end, as she and Allen received absolutely no support from the rest of
their teammates.
