Question:

Astrologers, Tarot Readers? Why Are These People So Lucky?

There was an article in our paper yesterday about the state lottery. An individual and a married couple have each won the lottery twice. Another married couple won both the lottery and the "Win For Life"( a thousand dollars a week for life). A man has won the "Cash Five"($100,000) three times in two years. Why are these people so lucky? What sets them apart from the rest of us? And don't tell me how life isn't fair. I'm mixed race and Jewish, I already know that.

  1. in games of chance, such as the lotto, sometimes you come out "lucky" and sometimes you don't. in reality it's just chance, not luck. sometimes games of chance pan out, sometimes they don't. it's not a case of good luck or bad luck.

luck is just a cute name for coincidence and chance.

  2. People who win lotteries repeatedly aren't lucky so much as hedging their bet, so to speak, when they buy tickets. Don't think for a minute that they randomly buy one ticket every so often on a whim. They buy BIG TIME. The payoff of a lottery MORE than pays them back for the investment they make. Gambling on cards, gambling on slots, gambling on lotteries----it's all the same. It's not how "lucky" you are, it's how you play.
