Astrology retired to stand at Taylor Made Stallions
Bred similarly like the champion and major sire, Bernardini, Astrology is by A. P. Indy and out of Quiet American, and the 4-year-old colt is ready to perform his stud duty by standing at Taylor Made Stallions near Nicholasville, Ky., and will be active in the 2013 breeding season for a fee of $7,500.
Previously owned by George Bolton and Stonestreet Stables, Astrology was trained by the veteran Steven Asmussen, and this season he raced in April and June, both being allowance optional claimers, as he went on to win the 1 1/16 mile race at Oaklawn Park, but finished sixth in his last race over a mile at Churchill Downs under Mike Smith.
Out of the winner, Quiet Eclipse, Astrology started his racing career in July 2010, and failed to break his maiden at first asking, but at the second attempt, he defeated To Honor and Serve at Saratoga race course over seven furlongs.
Later in the season, Astrology went on to register his first graded stakes victory, when at Churchill Downs he defeated Ribo Bobo in second Maybesomaybenot in third to win the Grade 3 Iroquois Stakes in 1 minute and 38.43 seconds.
He capped off his juvenile season with a second place finish to, Santiva, in the Grade 2 Kentucky Jockey Club at Churchill Downs.
At 3, Astrology had a number of placed finishes in all major races, as he finished second to Twice the Appeal in the Grade 3 Sunland Derby, and then second to Adios Charlie in the Grade 2 Jerome Handicap at Aqueduct race track.
He was placed in a Triple Crown Classic in 2011, when he finished third to, Shackleford, in the Grade 1 Preakness Stakes at Pimlico.
"Astrology is one of the best-looking horses I've seen by A.P. Indy, who's one of the best sire of sires in the world, and he's bred identically to Bernardini," said Ben Taylor, vice president of Taylor Made Stallions. "Astrology was a top juvenile around one turn, and showed that he could stretch out his speed and quality to be a classic 3-year-old. We're thankful to Mrs. Barbara Banke (of Stonestreet), George Bolton, and the entire Stonestreet team for choosing Taylor Made."
