  1. astronautical engineering is a branch of aerospace engineering, specifically the one that deals with crafts that operate outside the earth's atmosphere. Anything that has to do with flight in the outer-space and without a supporting atmosphere is under the study of astronautical engieneering.

It's opposite sister is aeronautical engineering, which as the name implies, uses air (aero-) as a support for the craft.

  2. Astronautical engineering focuses on projects related to the design, development, and use of spacecraft.

Astronautical engineering works specifically with spacecraft or astronautics.

An Aeronautical Engineer works with flight outside the atmosphere.
