  1. the sun

  2. ? a moviestar?  how else could a planet be around a star

  3. Epsilon Eridani -

    Planets-

    Epsilon Eridani b {confirmed}

    Epsilon Eridani c {unconfirmed}

  4. Sol.

    Addendum: I would be very surprised if they ever discovered a post-1st Generation unary star system that *didn't* have a planet around it.

  5. Epsilon Eridani has a planet, but I don't know if it's the closest.  Maybe.  It's most likely that all stars have at least one planet or planetoid, at least some asteroids.  Vega has a dense belt of asteroids.

  6. Technically, that would be the Sun; but I presume you mean "excepting the sun".

    Then the closest KNOWN extrasolar planet revolves around Epsilon Eridani, which is 10.5 light years away. Note the important condition: KNOWN. There may be closer solar systems yet, but we have not detected the planets yet. The one around Epsilon Eridani is about as large as Jupiter, and orbiting much closer to the star than our Jupiter does around our sun. An earth-sized planet orbiting that star would not be detectable with our current instruments.
