Astros Fans, can you tell me some interesting facts about your stadium?

I noticed how the wall behind home plate looks so much like Wrigley Field's brick wall and wonder if this was intentional. Also, I wondered about the big arches in the outfield: they don't look quite like they belong there.

I read that there was a hill with a flag pole in the outfield! And that it was first named Enron Stadium. :-( Anything else?

  1. There is a train in the left field that celebrates homeruns.

There is no homage to Wrigley Field. The fact is that there are restaurants to the baselines so that if you hit the balls in those areas you might hit someone eating dinner.

I think the wall you are talking about is in front of the grounds keeping equiptment.

Yes it used to be Enron and nowit is Mimute Maid.

Outside the stadium are huge baseballs (Sculptures).

It has several restaurants and food stands, beer and drink stands as well, gift shops and places to take the children in case they get bored and two nursing stations if something goes wrong.

Ex President Bush has seats next to the owner behind home plate and you can see him now and then sitting in them.

The roof is retractable but that takes about thirty minutes and is up to the discretion of the league to change in the case of playoffs. Otherwise the stadium gets to choose.

There is a small museum in the train lobbie that gives tours of the facility when there are no games.

Oh, and the "Arches" are to mimick a train station.

There is a train on the City of Houston City Seal. That is where that comes from.
