Question:

Asus eee laptop xp software?

Hi, I just got my eee 4g laptop and it came with windows xp. I want to put other software into it but I only got about 900mb left... What can I take out of the windows that I can still run without any problems...I tried putting programs in a usb drive but there are some programs that have to be put in harddrive.....Please help

  1. If you bought a Asus eee and need more space to install software, i'm afraid you bought the wrong computer. It's good for surfing the internet, but thats about it.

    Further more you can't remove part of an OS to free up space. 900 MB should be more then enough.


  2. You can't strip it down very much. 900MB is not that little, at least enough to store some sort of program. Windows really only works with all the programs on one drive, so it might be hard to put anything on an SD card, but you can at least put user files there or on a flash drive.

  3. Did you get Windows on a separate CD?  You can try using nLite to get rid of some unneeded functions and shrink the install.  However, you would have to re-install Windows.  There is also a way to mount the SDHC card so it looks like part of the C drive, which will let you install programs on it.
