  1. Get a chiropractic adjustment.  This has been known to help optical nerves.

  2. As an opthalmologist, when patients present with a different appearance in the optic nerve, the problem is usually that there is a difference in the size of the central optic nerve (the "cup") versus the outer rim tissue. Everyone has what is known as a "cup to disc" ratio which is the ratio of the inner cup or canal versus the outer optic nerve rim tissue. When a patient is told that there is asymmetry, we usually begin to screen for glaucoma and other eye disease. I would suggest you see an ophthalmologist now to undergo more extensive testing, such as GDX optic nerve fiber layer analysis and Humphrey Visual Field testing. Depending on the situation, age of the patient and health, some opthalmologists also need to obtain MRI (brain scans) to rule out serious conditions when other diseases or problems may exist, including unexplained blurry vision, etc.

    Hope this helps!
